Newborn Care
Burps, rashes, funny breathing patterns and green poop... These are just a few of the many questions parents have about their newborns in the first days. As your baby's doctor, we take the time to discuss your concerns. We expect to talk to new parents often in the first 8 weeks, you can reach the doctor on call by calling the clinic answering service 24 hours a day.
Well Child Visits
Preventive exams for children are recommended by many pediatricians as a way to accomidate the complex vaccination schedule developed by the CDC and recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. However, even if you don't plan to vaccinate your child according to that schedule there are many good reasons for following the regular schedule of visits, including:
- Growth assessment- your child's height, weight and head circumference are measured and evaluated to assure a healthy pattern of change over time
- Education- Well Child Visits provide an opportunity for you to discuss topics such as breastfeeding, teething, food introduction, sleep, vaccinations, sun protection, household safety, and home treatment of childhood illnesses
- Development- Your child's doctor will ask you a series of questions at each check up to make sure that your child is on track with language, fine and gross motor skills and social interactions.
Vaccinations
One Sky Wellness Associates offers vaccinations through the Washington State Department of Health's Vaccines For Children Progam. While we participate in this state program, you will not be pressured into (or out of) vaccinating your child during your visit. We have many parents who choose alternative vaccine schedules or do not vaccinate their children at all. We honor the difficulty of this decision for parents and provide a safe place for you to ask questions, voice concerns and ultimately make your own decision about vaccinating your child. We also stock some single vaccines, such as Measles only and Tetanus only vaccines. Whenever possible our vaccines come in single dose vials and are preservative free.

Great Starts offers vaccination classes for parents who want more information before making their choice. Feel free to call the clinic for more information.
